Photographic Negatives deteriorate over time, due to many factors, including the chemical process that produced them, exposure to sunlight, storage conditions, leading to exposure to dampness and humidity, which support the growth of mold.

Scanning original negatives, can often give a superior result than scanning the photographs.
At Scan-2-Save we will scan your colour and black and white negatives to digital files, with a variety of qualities available, which will allow you to then view them on your computer, tablet, mobile phone or television, as well as have them printed.

Negative Scanning - Services and Pricing options

We scan any colour or black and white negatives up to medium format size, using the latest Pro-Level flat bed scanning Technology from Epson.
​
All scanning and post processing work is completed locally - We DO NOT outsource or send your material away from our premises.

How to sort your Negatives:

Please have negatives in the order you want them scanned in, if this is important to you.

We will assign a job name (Normally your surname) and rolls can be named or numbered (Eg; Roll A or Roll 1) and then each digital file scanned from the negatives will be sequentially numbered, commencing from 001. For example - Smith - Roll 1 - 001, Smith - Roll 1 - 002, Smith - Roll 1 - 003, Smith - Roll 1 - 004

Standard Service:

Dust removal via cloth, brush & air.

Negatives scanned at 1200dpi.

Basic colour cast correction

Images copied to your USB drive. USB drives can be supplied by us if required, and we do so at cost price.

Images will be scanned in the order provided into one folder. If you have any special requirements with naming and numbering please communicate this to us, prior to our production commencing.
Superior Service:

This includes the Standard service items, but with negatives scanned at 2400dpi.

Post scanning processing to improve the colour, contrast and brightness.

Digital ICE dust removal for colour negatives.
Ultimate Service:

This includes the Superior service items, but with negatives scanned at 3200dpi.

Intelligent Cropping.

Advanced Brightness and contrast adjustment.

Image Sharpening if possible.
Conditions:

The negatives must be in strips of 4 and 6 – except for the start or end of the film roll.

If negatives are provided in rolls, we cut them into strips of 4 or 6 images each for scanning.

Negatives must be in reasonably good condition. Curled and/or buckled negatives may not be able to be scanned.

If negatives have mold, significant damage/scratches, we cannot guarantee the quality of the scan. These digital image files may require additional restoration, which we are happy to quote for you also.
